So, you want a successful career in real estate, do you? Or maybe you’ve been in real estate for a long time without much success? I honestly don’t think you have the chops for it, but if you think you do, then here’s a tidbit to get you off and running, not that you’ll follow it: To the bold goes the glory.
As simple as that sounds, it really is that simple. The people who put themselves out there are typically the ones who win. Even if they’re scared or doubtful, they do it anyway.
The ones who throw their hats in the ring will always win something, on some level. And you can bet the farm that they will always win over the people who never try or put themselves out there.
Then, with a little bit of extra effort, you’ll beat the other people who also tried. So here it is:
If you’re shy, get over it. If you’re an introvert, get over it. Don’t like talking to people? Then you’re in the wrong business. Be bold, be daring, be confident, be brave, and get out there and talk to people, set meetings, approach strangers. If you’re afraid of making a mistake, don’t worry about it.
People like bold and brave. Robert Greene, author of The 48 Laws of Power, said:
“Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily corrected with more audacity. Everyone admires the bold; no one honors the timid.”
THAT’S how you get more clients and listings than your competition.
And truth be told, your competition isn’t doing nearly as much as you think they are. They’re usually sitting on their asses or still relaxing off of the money from their last commission. And they won’t do anything more until the money runs out.
So what are you waiting for? Get off your ass and start making waves!
You think success is going to fall into your lap while you’re sitting around twiddling your thumbs? Think again! The real estate game is a battlefield and getting worse, and only the bold survive.
Here’s the cold, hard truth: Your competition isn’t as fierce as you think. Most of them are just as scared and hesitant as you are. But guess what? That’s your golden opportunity to shine!
Stop making excuses. “Oh, I’m not good with people.” “I don’t like rejection.” Boo-hoo! Newsflash: Nobody likes rejection. But the winners? They eat rejection for breakfast and ask for seconds.
We all have that self-doubt running around in our heads like a freaking tornado of fear carrying away cars, houses and our hopes and dreams. Even the top successful people still have it. But they put themselves out there anyway, even with that negative self-talk.
Here’s your new mantra: Be relentless. Be unstoppable. Be the agent that everyone remembers.
Cold calling scares you? Good. Do it anyway. Networking events make you nervous? Perfect. Attend every single one you can find. The more uncomfortable you are, the more you need to do it.
Remember, every “no” gets you closer to a “yes.” Every awkward conversation builds your skills. Every rejection thickens your skin.
Want to know the secret weapon of top-performing agents? They don’t give a damn about looking foolish. They’re too busy closing deals while you’re cuddled up in the corner worrying about what others think.
So here’s your challenge: Do something bold TODAY. Right now. Call that lead you’ve been avoiding. Approach that high-profile client you thought was out of your league. What’s the worst that could happen? They say no? Big deal. At least you’ll have the guts to try.
In this cutthroat world of real estate, the meek don’t inherit the earth — they get left in the dust. You either eat, or get eaten. It’s up to you.
So gear up, step up, and show up. Be the agent who dares greatly, fails spectacularly, and succeeds magnificently.
Remember: To the bold goes the glory. Now get out there and claim what’s yours!
