It seems patriotism is a quickly fading sentiment. But is patriotism really a sentiment or is it an idea? A sentiment is “a view of or attitude toward a situation or event” as defined by Google. But it’s patriotism that built and defends a nation, a community and families. Patriotism is what makes one man willing to die for another man’s family.
So its got to be much more than just a sentiment. Its a part of us, it’s weaved into our very souls. That must be the reason companies who use patriotic massaging in their marketing have always done so well. Made in America actually means something to us.
In today’s politically charged climate, where loyalty to our nation is looked at as an insult by many, brand loyalty is increasingly influenced by values and beliefs and some are even recognized as patriotic brands. Again, it means something to us.
The Brand Keys survey, a comprehensive assessment of consumer perceptions, has revealed the top 20 most patriotic American brands for 2023. However, some have fallen off this list, and some have even kicked themselves off the list in a spectacularly public and sad display.
However, the companies still on the list give us all something to strive for, for 2024 and beyond.
Some of these brands have captured the hearts of consumers, while others have broken the hearts of consumers, but many have also demonstrated a deep commitment to embodying the spirit of patriotism in their operations and messaging.
The rankings are based on how well each brand embodies patriotism, as perceived by consumers. The survey, which evaluated 1,260 brands across various industries, was conducted with a wide sample of 6,150 consumers, ensuring a balanced representation of gender and political affiliation. Brands were assessed for their resonance with the single value of “patriotism,” highlighting the emotional connection consumers feel towards these brands.
Brands that successfully tap into emotional values, particularly patriotism, often witness heightened consumer engagement and loyalty. By aligning themselves with national pride and shared values, these brands create strong bonds with consumers, leading to favorable behavior and increased profitability.
I have chosen to keep the brands that have fallen from this list on the list. However, I will point out their current status, and a *** means they have recently fallen from glory and have even turned anti-patriotic.
Here are the brands that have earned the distinction of being among the most patriotic in America, according to the Brand Keys survey:
As we celebrate these iconic brands and their contributions to American culture and society, it’s evident that patriotism goes beyond mere symbolism — it’s about embodying the values and ideals that define the nation.
Whether through innovation, tradition, or community engagement, these brands exemplify what it means to be truly patriotic in today’s drastically-changing world.
In a commercial playing field where consumer choices are influenced by more than just product features, the importance of aligning with values such as patriotism cannot be overstated. As businesses strive to build lasting connections with consumers, embracing the spirit of patriotism can be a powerful catalyst for success.
Let us continue to celebrate and support these patriotic American brands, recognizing their role in shaping our collective identity and fostering a sense of national pride.
And, of course, let’s strive to live up to our own version of patriotic American companies and people. We can turn things around.
