I don’t know about you, but I’m always struggling to overcome my shortcomings, fight with my demons, do better, build strength etc. Maybe you’re fine with the way you are, and if so, I applaud you if you’ve reached some level of self-mastery. Me, I’m not quite there yet.
So I read books like Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, As a Man Thinketh, by James Allen and many others. And I try to incorporate that wisdom into my work as well as in my personal life.
I recently watched a Tony Robbins video about personal development entitled “ The ONLY 3 Paths to Mastery to Achieve Anything You Want in Life,” and it got me thinking about the real estate profession. How can the advice from the world’s greatest self-help master help people’s real estate careers? Here are my key takeaways that I tweaked for realtors.
Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, made 1,000 practice shots per practice session, twice a day. That’s 2,000 shots daily, adding up to millions over his career. As realtors, what are we practicing with such dedication?
Are we:
Or are we falling into habits that don’t serve our growth? And I can think of a few.
We’ve all been to seminars, read books, or watched videos about real estate success. But how often do we actually implement what we learn? Tony Robbins emphasizes that knowledge alone isn’t power — it’s potential power. The real power lies in execution.
As realtors, you need to ask yourself:
Doing something over and over again makes you a master. But what are we repeating daily in our real estate practice?
Positive habits might include:
Negative habits to avoid:
Even if we’re doing the right activities, are we giving them our full effort? Half-hearted prospecting calls or lackluster listing presentations won’t yield the results we’re looking for. As Tony says, it’s not just about practice, but practicing with passion and full engagement.
It all comes down to what you want, and how badly you want it. Do you have a burning desire to succeed in real estate? Is your hunger to be the top agent in your market insatiable?
If so, there’s a wealth of information out there to help you achieve your goals. This article, Tony Robbins’ videos, and countless other resources are available. But remember, the information is just the starting point. It’s up to you to act on it.
To develop and maintain this hunger for success:
Remember, as Tony Robbins says, “The hungry people always find the way to victory.” In real estate, this hunger translates to constantly seeking new listings, nurturing client relationships, and pushing yourself to improve your skills.
The question is, do you have the hunger that doesn’t go away? The hunger that drives you to make those extra calls, to perfect your craft, to go above and beyond for your clients? If you do, success in real estate isn’t just possible — it’s inevitable.
Now, armed with this knowledge and motivation, what action will you take today to feed your hunger for success?
