I was talking with a realtor in Las Vegas a couple months ago about the industry, and I said there are 17,000 realtors in Las Vegas alone (The Las Vegas REALTORS® association represents over 17,000 members), and she said “ya, but over half don’t even answer their phone. They’re not even working. So the real number is much lower.”

And she’s right. That’s exactly what I’ve found talking to and working with realtors across the country — less than half are actually putting in the effort or even answering their phones.

If you’re even a little bit ambitious and you show up and put in the effort every single day, you’ll easily outperform 90% of the realtors in your market. I’m serious. The bar is that low.

Now, if you really double down and start setting more meetings, listing more properties, showing more homes — you’ll leave half of that remaining 10% in the dust. With just a little extra effort, you can outclass most of your competition.

You see, the truth is, other realtors aren’t nearly as industrious as you think. They’re not working as hard as you imagine. Most realtors out there aren’t putting in the extra hours, they’re not marketing themselves, they’re not advertising their services, they’ve not even set up a good basic website. So you don’t have nearly as much real competition as you assume.

The odds aren’t stacked against you, my friend. In fact, they’re in your favor. Look around — in any given market, there are only a handful of realtors who are truly killing it. The rest? They’re just going through the motions.

And you know why those top performers succeed? Because they had the courage to put themselves out there. They didn’t let fear or self-doubt hold them back. They took action, they grinded, they hustled — and that’s why they’re winning.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking everyone else knows more than you or is somehow better than you. We all have the same education, the same experience, the same capabilities. The only difference is that some of us are willing to take a chance.

So pick yourself up, put on your big boy pants, and get out there. The only thing holding you back is you. Everyone else is too busy being mediocre to stop you from becoming a freaking real estate superstar. Your competition isn’t nearly as fierce as it seems.
