“today’s game will be played before a fiercely patriotic crowd”

pa·tri·ot·ism
/ˈpātrēəˌtiz(ə)m/
noun
noun: patriotism

the quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country.
“a highly decorated officer of unquestionable integrity and patriotism”

These are the official definitions of Patriotic and Patriotism according to Definitions from Oxford Languages; but what do these words mean to you, what feelings or images do they conjure up in your mind?

For me it’s always been a large sense of community, family, 4th of July, Boy Scout trips, hard work, barbecues in the park, baseball, cowboys, adventure, riding my bike, military service and community service; and the beloved memory of the smell of freshly baked bread coming from the bakery just down the street from my childhood house.

So Yes, I do have a devotion to my country, but it’s also a devotion to my neighbors, my family and friends and my community, to OUR way of life.

For some strange reason, the things that mean so much to me are somehow a threat to others and they are actively trying to destroy them. That’s why I write these posts, to make sure people, business owners and our community at least get to hear the other side, the side of reason I believe.

And, sticking to our founding principles, ideals and values are also tools to help businesses support their community and earn greater profits at the same time. You know, like the old days, win-win! Remember that concept?

In the heartland of America, where hard work, honesty, and traditional values I think still reign supreme, a unique form of marketing has historically propelled iconic brands to unparalleled success.

Patriotic marketing, rooted in the core values of the American spirit, has been a driving force behind the lifetime achievements of companies like John Deere, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Levi’s, Jeep, Caterpillar, and others.

But what exactly is patriotic marketing, and how has it contributed to the enduring legacies of these beloved American brands?

Patriotic Marketing: it gives us to words: patriotic and marketing.

Above we learned that Patriotic means “having or expressing devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country,” and

Marketing means: “the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.”

“anyone working in communications and marketing will find the guide invaluable”

So to me “Patriotic Marketing” means: the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services in a way that inspires and promotes devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country.

So basically Patriotic Marketing puts your feelings and beliefs about your country, family and friends, and your community on display for the world to see and to connect with. This lets others partake in a shared sense of community and patriotism, even love for your fellow man (or humans these days).

The Essence of Patriotic Marketing

At its core, patriotic marketing taps into the rich tapestry of American culture, heritage, and values on a very personal level. It celebrates the pioneering spirit of innovation, the resilience of the American worker, and the unyielding commitment to excellence.

When business owners align their brand identities with these timeless ideals, their companies have forged deep connections with consumers who share a deep appreciation for the American ethos.

Examples of Patriotic Marketing in Action
