We all feel it, we can all see it in every aspect of our lives now. We all know that things are different, and not for the better, but for the absolute worst actually. There are many reasons for it of course that we can debate, but one reason, I would argue the main reason, is the loss of our standards as a nation.

Our standards as a nation have fallen so far that reading and writing and math proficiency are no longer graduation requirements in some states. That is not just a lowering of our standards, but a complete abandonment of our standards.

No matter your take on all these changes, one thing that is not even up for debate is that what we had before worked, it changes the world for the better in fact. Governments around the world adopted our form of government, people from all over the world immigrated here, the U.S. was held up as the standard to follow. But no longer do we hold the title for excellence or greatness. We not only lost it, but we intentionally gave it away.

However, this decline into mediocrity and incompetence doesn’t have to be our end, it doesn’t have to be our destiny. We can turn things around and start heading down the path that built a once great nation — once again.

So in today’s world inundated with mediocrity and a race to be the worst or to have the lowest standards, in other words, a race to the bottom, the pursuit of excellence stands as a beacon of distinction once again.
